Speach of the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tajikistan

Dear colleagues!

The purpose and objective of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tajikistan is to extend full support to deepening of market reforms and consolidate all positive that gradually within 15 years, will transfer the country to industrially agrarian country.
For this purpose Tajikistan has the necessary human and climatic resources sufficient and sustainable improved legislative and legal base.

One of the most important conditions for ensuring sustainable development of Tajikistan on the way of social and economic progress the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tajikistan finds in attraction of foreign and domestic investments and savings to the economy. For this purpose we have established the legal base that is answering to the principles of market economy supporting the development  of small and medium businesses, favorable conditions for attraction of foreign investments, development of market structures including financial and banking system.

In the country acting laws that guarantee the security and profitability of foreign investments in economy of Tajikistan. Measures have been taken to ensure the equal protection of rights, interests and property of subjects of investment activity.

Foreign investors may carry out any activities which are not prohibited by the legislation of the republic. Foreign investments are not subject of nationalization. Foreign investors are allowed to transfer their income and other amounts in foreign currency received by them in a legal grounds.
In the country the activities of banks with 100 percent of foreign capital, joint venture banks, as well as the activities of branches and representative offices of banks from other countries is allowed.
Industry is diversified across nearly one hundred sectors. The Tajik Aluminum Factory (TALCO) cooperates with the largest baked anodes plants in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). On existence of energy potential with the possibility of generation of 527 billion. kW. per hour of electricity Tajikistan takes the second place after Russia among the CIS countries, on a territory saturation hydroenergy resources — the first place.

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tajikistan was formed 57 years ago, and has become one of the leading associations for entrepreneurs in Tajikistan. For small and medium-sized enterprises, it has become the essential focal point for organizational and legal support of their activities, for the expansion of economic relations, and as a means to strengthen the dialogue between business and government.

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tajikistan honourably represents the Republic of Tajikistan in the international community, promoting the export of Tajik products and  attraction of investments to the economy of the country, as well as protecting the interests of the private sector, and facilitating dialogue between business and government. Relations with the Chambers of Commerce of other CIS countries and beyond have been strengthened and continue to evolve. International recognition has been enhanced, as evidenced by membership in the World Federation of Chambers of Commerce, the International Chamber of Commerce, the Silk Road Chamber of Commerce, the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the International Council on Cooperation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of CIS countries, the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of ECO countries, as well as business entities of the Baltic, Central and Eastern Europe and the Pacific region.

Tajik entrepreneurs are interested in new technologies and machinery, in attracting investment through joint ventures in the mining, transport, hydropower, tourism, healthcare sectors, construction industry, light and food industry, processing of agricultural products: cotton, cocoons, hides, wool, as well as processing and packaging of fruits and vegetables.

For our part, we will strive to assure the maximum contribution for expansion and strengthening of Tajikistan's trade, economic and  investment cooperation with all countries. We are committed to the promotion of modern business structures and business circles for all your good initiatives.
