Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tajikistan has discussed UNOPS investment attraction issues

     March 5, 2019, the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tajikistan Jumakhonzoda Jamshed Jurakhon met with the Regional Coordinator of the UNOPS program for Central Asia Davronbek Akhmadbekov. The meeting was also attended by the Consultant of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) Manzura Makhkamova.

     During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of further cooperation.

   – “UNOPS previously worked in Tajikistan under the auspices of the RRDP, the UNDP Rehabilitation, Reconstruction and Development Program. Now UNOPS is returning to Tajikistan as a self-sufficient and independent UNDP structure and is in the process of official registration,” said Davronbek Akhmadbekov.

    – “Our small team of consultants is currently actively working to attract investments and new projects/programs in Tajikistan, and, at our proposal, it was decided to open a Central Asian Regional Office in Dushanbe,” he continued.

    UNOPS successful experience in other countries and the ways to implement this experience in Tajikistan were also discussed during the meeting. In this regard, UNOPS expressed the interest in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tajikistan.

    In his turn, the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tajikistan presented the Chamber activities, as well as the great potential and the priority areas for economic development of the Republic of Tajikistan.
