UNDP Research Presentation: “Assessing the Impact of COVID-19 on Households and Small and Medium Enterprises (including private entrepreneurs) in Tajikistan”.

On August 18, 2020, the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tajikistan – Jumakhonzoda Jamshed Jurakhon has participated in an online presentation of the results of a research on assessing the impact of COVID-19 on households, small and medium-sized enterprises (including Private entrepreneurs) in Tajikistan, which was conducted and organized by UNDP Tajikistan. Considering the negative impact of the pandemic on the economy of Tajikistan, the purpose of this meeting was to present the preliminary results of the assessment, discuss and confirm the conclusions with government stakeholders, the private sector, international organizations and development partners.

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tajikistan, in turn, acted as a partner in providing a list of respondents to conduct survey. As part of the presentation, the results of the impact of the pandemic on the activities of the private sector were presented, as well as how this assessment made it possible to assess the scale of the impact of the epidemic on the activities of vulnerable households and entrepreneurs in different sectors of the economy, including identifying opportunities and practices for adapting to new conditions to improve the state of business. -Community and support for small and medium-sized businesses during and after the pandemic. During the assessment, UNDP covered about 700 representatives of SMEs, private entrepreneurs, dekhkan farms from all regions of the country.

 During the online presentation, all the subtleties of conduct survey were discussed and additional questions were asked about this research.
