In Dushanbe a meeting took place between the representatives of the business circles of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan
On June 1, 2021, the Business Forum of Business Circles of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan was held at the Hayat Regency Hotel.
The forum was organized in the run-up to the upcoming official visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Republic of Tajikistan.
The organizers of this event on the Tajik side were the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tajikistan with the assistance of the State Committee on Investments and State Property Management of the Republic of Tajikistan, and on the Uzbek side – the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Republic of Tajikistan.
The Uzbek delegation consisted of more than 100 representatives of the business community of Uzbekistan from 13 regions such as: Samarqand, Syrdarya, Bukhara, Namangan, Republic of Karakalpakstan, Khorezm, Andijan, Jizzakh, Kashkadarya, Navoi, Tashkent, Tashkent city, Fergana region.
The delegation, along with representatives of Uzbek business, also included representatives of khokimiyats (governor’s and mayor’s offices) of cities and regions of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The Tajik side was represented at this event by more than 100 representatives of the business community, representatives of interested ministries and agencies of the Republic of Tajikistan.
A welcome statement was made to the participants by the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mr. Jumakhonzoda Jamshed. He warmly welcomed the Uzbek delegation and expressed gratitude to the Republic of Uzbekistan for the interest shown in deepening bilateral cooperation with the Republic of Tajikistan in trade, economic and investment spheres.
The Chairman of the CCI of the Republic of Tajikistan invited the Uzbek side to work out the possibility of creating of joint ventures in priority sectors of the Republic of Tajikistan using local raw materials of Tajikistan, and taking into account the market of neighboring countries with the Republic of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, inviting them to familiarize themselves with the activities of the Free Economic Zones of the Republic of Tajikistan, where benefits and preferences are provided.
The Chairman underlined the importance of further intensification of business contacts between entrepreneurs of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan in deepening bilateral cooperation between the two brotherly countries, especially during the ongoing world economic crisis, due to the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic around the world, underlining the importance of holding a business meeting in В2В format before the official visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Republic of Tajikistan.
Welcoming addresses were also made to the forum participants by the Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Republic of Tajikistan Shoismatov Ergash Rahmatullayevich. He noted the interest of entrepreneurs of Uzbekistan in the development of bilateral cooperation with entrepreneurs of Tajikistan, given the existing untapped potential of both countries in increasing mutually beneficial trade turnover.
Within the framework of this event, the State Unitary Enterprise “Tajinvest” presented the investment opportunities of the Republic of Tajikistan.
During the exchange of contacts, the participants discussed the possibilities of expanding mutual trade, organizing the supply of demanded products to the markets of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, as well as the implementation of joint investment projects with the participation of private capital of the two countries, in such industries as: food, textile, chemical, agricultural, leather and footwear, electrical industries, industrial technologies and equipment, building materials, tourism and others.
Following the results of the B2B meeting, representatives of the business community of Uzbekistan discussed intentions to conclude trade contracts with entrepreneurs of Tajikistan within the framework of the upcoming visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Republic of Tajikistan.
