SCO Business Council

Within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tajikistan Sharif Said was elected Chairman of the National Part of the SCO Business Council from the Republic of Tajikistan in July, 2005. The National Part of the SCO Business Council are given priorities of the development of trade and economic relations and the promotion of direct contacts between the entrepreneurs of the member countries.

Hosting the Business Council of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO)

September 10, 2014, the Board of the SCO Business Council held a meeting in the capital of Tajikistan – Dushanbe.

Brief information on the results of the SCO Business Council:

The SCO Business Council Meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Board of the SCO Business Council/ Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tajikistan Sharif Said; the Secretary General of the SCO Business Council Dmitry Mezentsev; the Executive Secretary of the SCO Business Council Sergey Kanavsky; the Chairmen of the National Parts of the Russian Federation, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sergey Katyrin; Deputy Chairman of the SCO National Part of the Republic of Kazakhstan Munavvara Paltasheva; from the People’s Republic of China – Deputy Head of the China Trade Promotion Committee Yu Pin; from the Republic of Kyrgyzstan – President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Marat Sharshekeev; from the Republic of Uzbekistan, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Alisher Shaikhov.

The First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Davlatali Said, the President of the Republic of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov, President of “Beijing Jinchuang International Group” (PRC) Zheng Jiansheng, President of OJSC Huacin Cement (Yavan) Li Yeqing, President of the LLC Tajik-China Mining Company Huang Djangrong, Head of Representative Office of OJSC TBEA in RT Wang Zhang, representatives of the Board of Directors of CJSC PO Renaissance (RF), UNDP in the Republic of Tajikistan, domestic and foreign media.

The meeting was chaired by the Chairman of the SCO Business Council Sharif Said.

The meeting focused on the issues of strengthening and developing regional cooperation; the development of business relations of entrepreneurs of the SCO member countries; combining joint efforts to attract the private sector of the SCO member countries into international trade and the development of foreign markets; introduction of an electronic trading system; establishing partnerships under business projects; expanding the exchange of business information; holding regular teleconferences and webinars; introducing an insurance system; practical implementation of the training program for business personnel in various sectors of the economy; creating a single business space based on IT-technologies; protecting the legitimate interests of business in the SCO area; ensuring the free movement of goods, capital, services and technology; promoting business to the markets of the SCO member countries and observers; and attracting mutual investments.

In his speech on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, Davlatali Said warmly welcomed distinguished guests and noted that Tajikistan highly appreciates the work of the SCO Business Council on the consistent implementation of the Action Plan for the Implementation of the Program of Multilateral Trade and Economic Cooperation among the SCO Member States. According to him, the SCO member states have tremendous opportunities for joint development of rich natural resources, implementation of large joint long term investment projects, primarily in the field of regional trade, transport, energy and telecommunications, the agro-industrial complex. Above all, there is the need to use the practical connecting trade, economic and investment interactions.

The Chairman of the SCO Business Council Sharif Said, who made a report on the activities of the SCO Business Council in the first half of 2014, highlighted the main activities of the National Parts of the Business Council, as well as a broad aspect of economic and investment cooperation within the SCO.

  1. Business Council Tajikistan-Turkey

A new stage in the further development of friendly relations and mutually beneficial cooperation between Tajikistan and Turkey started with an official visit of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan on October 23-24, 2003.

The Protocol on the Establishment of the Tajik-Turkish Business Council was signed during the visit. The document was signed by the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tajikistan Sharif Said and the President of the Union of Chambers and Exchanges of Turkey Rifat Hisarciklioglu. Referring to bilateral relations, Rifat Hisarciklioglu noted that the objective of both chambers is to expand mutual ties at necessary pace and scale.

“We are convinced that the activities of the Business Council will be a turning point in the relations between Turkey and Tajikistan, which will enhance bilateral cooperation”, said R. T. Erdogan.

In a broader context, the Business Council is entrusted with the tasks of implementing the international activities of the CCI RT. The Business Council will strive to establish strong business contacts with the economic structures of Tajikistan, whose main objective is to establish business contacts, organize business forums, conferences and seminars, actively promote mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation between Tajikistan and Turkey, and create favorable conditions for Tajik and Turkish companies in their business.
